Our journey begins:
The corporate workshop
“Fit for Defence”
Process and focus of the workshop
Our workshop focuses intensively on planning and preparing for a successful and sensible entry into the defence and security sector.
01
The objective of the workshop
The workshop aims to understand the company, the mindset and the wishes of the entrepreneur and to clarify critical points.
The following questions are in focus:
- Who or what is driving diversification, what is the desired business model and what is the entrepreneur planning to do after entering the defence and security sector?
- Is the company able to survive the time, adapt the products accordingly including their documentation and what are the biggest challenges?
- Which elements of mentoring, consulting, training and operational support must be considered in order to achieve the formulated goals smartly?
These arise from the “Fit for Defence” company check and are then defined in a 12-18 month plan.
In short: a joint development of an action plan over the next 12-18 months to improve entry, increase opportunities and business sustainability in the defence and security sector.
02
The approach
In an initial 30-45 minute preliminary discussion, the location (on-site or off-site) and important key points of the workshop are discussed or queried with the entrepreneur or his staff.
This is followed by the actual implementation of the workshop for one or two days, depending on the preliminary discussion and the intentions of the management.
As with any wonderful journey, the workshop is about preparing the following points together:
- What is the specific challenge to be solved?
- What should be achieved in the workshop?
- What is the specific timeline?
- Who are the participants and their roles?
- What is the format or approach used?
- Where does the workshop take place and who will take care of the booking?
- How do the participants develop the results?
After the workshop, there is a two-stage follow-up with a review of the defined steps, successes and mutual feedback.
03
The Workshop
Our workshop offers a structured approach to prepare for successful business development.
The basic structure of the workshop is:
- Arrival of the participants, even if obvious, is an important step.
- Open discussion about questions, worries and needs as well as getting to know each other. Important points and elements are recorded so that they are not lost or forgotten later.
- Creation of a business model canvas in the current state of the company.
- Discussing the special constraints regarding the customer and the legal constraints of the business in the defence and security sector as well as presenting the best practices for this business.
- Revising the business model canvas for the intended target state of the company and its customer base. Define initial actions to close gaps and clarify uncertainties.
- Set goals that are to be achieved in the short, medium and long term, and record the availability of resources and existing boundary conditions for the goals. This should be done using SMART at least, i.e. the goals must be
- Specific,
- Measureable,
- Achievable,
- Reasonable and
- Time-bound.
In addition to the goals, the necessary resources and constraints are also recorded.
- Summary of the workshop results, resolutions and tasks. If necessary, present these to interested non-participants. Ensure communication within the company about what was decided and done; also, for example, publicly on business social media platforms.
- Determine who and with whom the key elements of mentoring, consulting, training or operational support should be carried out?
- Collect and record feedback.
Official end of the workshop.

The follow-up work
Here we work through what was determined in the workshop and apply a “light project management” approach.
I book the workshop because that’s what I need!
